About Ozark GMRS
Ozark GMRS provides clear, practical, and easy-to-understand information about the General Mobile Radio Service and the ways it can support everyday communication throughout the Ozarks. Our goal is to help visitors understand what GMRS is, what a license allows, and how properly programmed radios and regional repeaters can improve local communication.
Our mission is to educate the public, help new radio users build confidence, and give experienced operators useful regional resources. The site covers GMRS licensing, radio selection, programming, repeaters, coverage, operating practices, and responsible radio use. Information is written for ordinary people, without assuming that every visitor already understands radio terminology or equipment.
GMRS can help families, travelers, campers, hunters, off-road groups, farms, neighborhoods, and community organizations stay connected. It can also provide a valuable backup when cellular service is weak, unavailable, or overwhelmed during severe weather or other emergencies. Radio communication does not replace emergency services, but it can give families and groups another practical way to share information and coordinate locally.
